但是确实看不出具体有什么区别，这俩词给我的感觉就是去区分中文“才能”和“能力”两个词的subtle difference一样。gmat考试中区分这种细微差别感觉没什么意义。
2.另一种说法是C选项的in dealing with…有可能会修饰到diminish上面去。
原句子想表达的是：因为他破坏了呼吸系统处理其他污染物的能力。当in dealing修饰到diminish上时，句意变成：因为它破坏呼吸系统的能力，在处理其他污染物的时候。此时会产生歧义。
不知道这样的理解有没有错呢？
