看原文18-22行，读完以后我对原文的理解是：证据表明，虫子的数量跟自身因素有关，跟外部因素（比如天敌啦，寄生虫啦之类的）关系不怎么大。
题目问的是WEAKEN，我想的就是找一个能体现跟外部因素有关，或者无法确定昆虫数量到底跟谁有关的选项。
排除A,D,E以后剩下B和D。 D说的是lepi这个物种习性不一样，所以很难界定天气是否对其population cycle有影响。
我觉得, 这就是说明，lepi这个物种的population cycle到底受谁影响很难讲，因为没法控制变量呀。所以选了D
